In this role, you will be Volvo's main contact with customs authorities, explaining our standards and how we comply with applicable regulations. You will also lead or support internal and external audits and take responsibility for relevant certifications and permits. We work proactively to use trade as a competitive advantage and to capture opportunities across the supply chain. Combined with smart digital tools, this creates a strong foundation for success. You report directly to the Director of Customs & Trade EMEA and you are an active member of the EMEA management team. Together with the UK customs compliance manager, as well as collaborating with brokers, master data specialists and internal partners to keep our operations efficient, compliant and forward-thinking.
Responsibilities
- The main contact with customs authorities in the UK and Ireland
- Work closely with brokers to ensure smooth and compliant import and export processes
- Lead audits, assess risk and ensure that all compliance requirements are met
- Support road map activities through to 2030 and work with other teams on specialist topics
- Analyse trade and Power BI data to identify improvements or report to management
- Ensuring all the brands within the Volvo Group are compliant
- You will implement and develop new customs processes
- Maintain documentation and strong compliance controls through regular reviews
Qualifications
- You have a strong background in customs, logistics or trade, with a track record of ensuring compliance and driving improvement.
- You are analytical, detail-focused and enjoy using data to create meaningful change.
- The ideal candidate will be confident in managing both internal and external stakeholders and thrive when working collaboratively.
- A Level 3 Certificate in Customs Compliance
- Experience using Root Cause Analysis or similar tools to support continuous improvement
- Strong analytical skills with experience using Excel and Power BI
- Experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration
- The ability to drive improvement activities within the UK and surrounding countries
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- A proactive approach to internal reviews, follow-ups and compliance controls
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written
