Volunteering Matters, in partnership with Active Suffolk and on behalf of Sport England, is launching an exciting year-long project to uncover what truly drives or hinders people in Ipswich when it comes to being active. We are looking for 4 Community Connectors—local champions from Whitton, Gainsborough, and Belstead Hills—who will engage directly with residents, capturing their lived experiences, hopes, and barriers around physical activity. Whether it’s a chat over coffee, outside school gates, or at a community event, these real conversations will help shape future services and initiatives rooted in what communities actually need.
As a Community Connector, you’ll play a vital role in gathering insights and amplifying voices that often go unheard. You’ll plan and lead conversations, listen deeply, document themes in journals, and share findings with project partners. Your work will inform community development, spark collaboration, and help build stronger, more active neighbourhoods. If you’re approachable, well-connected in your area, and passionate about bringing people together, this is your chance to help your community thrive—on your schedule, with the support of Volunteering Matters and Active Suffolk. Evening and weekend flexibility is essential, and a DBS check will be required.
