Job Purpose:

To support the mission of YMCA in empowering young people to belong, contribute, and thrive. As a Volunteer Youth Support Worker, you will help deliver safe, inclusive, and engaging sessions for children and young people, offering positive activities and supportive relationships in line with our vision and values.

Sessions are for P5 to P7 aged children and run on Tuesdays from 6pm to 8.30pm

Volunteers will have an induction and must be access NI checked before starting. They will have access to youth work training and the support and guidance of staff.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Build supportive, appropriate relationships with young people aged between 8 and 18
  • Assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of youth programmes, clubs, and outreach sessions
  • Create a welcoming and safe environment where young people feel valued
  • Promote inclusion, respect, and positive behaviour during sessions
  • Set up and clear away equipment and ensure spaces are kept clean and safe
