Rugby Club Support Roles – Match Reporter/Social Media/Match-Day Physio

Donaghadee RFC

If you are looking for, or have experience in sports journalism, this role is ideal for you. You will have a keen interest in rugby and understand the laws of the game. You will present match reports online for our followers both internal and external, representing the club as we take to the pitch.

You will represent the organisation through communicating the action on and after match days, have a keen eye for detail, and summarise our matches and players\’ contributions on the pitch. You will be a valued volunteer, working alongside the players, coaches, and supporters to convey the excitement and action from the sidelines. Our club is volunteer-run, but if you are not known to us already, you will be assured of being welcomed into our rugby family, with access all areas!

Must be available on match days and have access to your own computer for match reports.

Social Media Volunteer: You will have an understanding of the platforms that our club uses. You will create content for our followers and update the platforms, creating a buzz and reflecting the values of our club. Working alongside other volunteers, you will help us present our club, matches, players, and officials in the best possible light to our community. As a valued volunteer, you will gain a deeper understanding of the sport – an interest in rugby is preferred but not essential.

Senior Match Day Physio: We are looking for a responsible person to ensure our players compete safely. You will understand the basics of physio support, including the dangers of head injuries and muscular strains. As physio, you will use our equipment to assess on-field injuries/performance and ensure our players compete at their best, knowing when players should not compete. You will develop relationships with coaching staff and players and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with being an essential cog in a well-oiled sporting outfit. This role would suit those with some medical knowledge and/or budding sports therapists or students.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Create content for our followers
  • Keep abreast of trends within social media
  • Grow our social media presence and following
  • Report on Match Days – communicating the best methods of reaching our followers
  • Match Day assessments as physio
