An Association Visitor provides emotional and informative support locally to those living with and affected by Motor Neurone Disease (‘MND’). They offer information on navigating services and accessing support available through the MND Association. This role is recruited through our Safer Recruitment process, which includes a formal interview, references, and a mandatory review process embedded in the role. A DBS or Access NI check is required. Successful applicants will complete a formal induction and sign‑off process, covering mandatory training within the first six months, including live classroom and e‑learning modules on system and policy training, safeguarding, inclusion, GDPR, and cybersecurity. Volunteers receive ongoing local support from their allocated CSC.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Offer emotional support for someone living with or affected by MND
- Signpost and provide helpful and relevant information to enable access to appropriate services and support
- Attend virtual and/or face‑to‑face sessions on an ongoing basis, such as peer support meetings, 1:1 sessions and other development events and opportunities
- Handle data, take notes and produce simple reports using our online systems
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other volunteers and staff across the local branch or group, including the local Community Support Coordinator (‘CSC’)
- Adhere to all of the MND Association’s policies and procedures as applicable to the role
- Travel may be required within an agreed area and may be expensed, depending on local activities
- Time commitment is variable, ranging from 1–4 hours per week depending on local needs
