Volunteer Now has partnered with Be Collective to bring a dedicated online platform for volunteering to Northern Ireland. The platform supports volunteers through the volunteering process and helps connect more people with a wider range of opportunities.
People with dementia and their carers can become isolated and lonely; our Companion Call volunteers help to brighten up their lives. As a Companion Call volunteer, you will be matched with someone affected by dementia and will phone them regularly to chat about anything that interests them. By dedicating a little time each week, you’ll make a big impact, providing laughter, creating meaningful connections and helping people know they are not alone.
Although an understanding of dementia is beneficial, you will not be providing information or advice, so no prior knowledge is necessary.

This is a role that you can carry out from your own home at times agreed between your volunteer manager, the person you are calling and yourself. We ask that you commit to making calls on a weekly basis.
