Activity Support Volunteer - North Belfast Day Centre

We are looking for enthusiastic Volunteers to join the Mental Health Team at North Belfast Day Centre.

The Activity Support Volunteer will volunteer alongside Trust staff in the provision of support and group activities/light gardening for individuals with a mental health condition.

A suitable Volunteer for this role should have effective listening and communication skills, be confident with carrying out activities with minimal supervision and treat conversations with discretion and sensitivity. In return we will provide a staff Mentor, ongoing training and reasonable travel expenses.

If you can reliably provide 3-4 hours per week of your time (typically 10‑2 pm available on weekdays) and wish to support patients then this role may be for you!

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Assist staff to prepare and facilitate group programmes
  • Assist staff with light gardening duties in the patient garden
  • Helping with / creating activities
  • Chatting with patients

Minimum age to apply for this role is 17, travel expenses will be reimbursed.

All successful applicants need to undergo an Enhanced Access NI check, references and Occupational Health Screening prior to commencing role.

Experience is not essential however please indicate in your response any experience of volunteering with groups / individuals.
