Volunteer Now has partnered with Be Collective to bring a dedicated online platform for volunteering to Northern Ireland. The platform supports volunteers through the volunteering process and helps connect more people with a wider range of opportunities.

We are currently looking to recruit a volunteer driver for Harryville Community Fridge. The volunteer driver will collect surplus food from the Ballymena Tesco Store on a Wednesday evening and deliver it to the Community Fridge beside Harryville Community Garden. The volunteer will be asked to use their own car or van and there will be some manual lifting required. Full training and information will be provided to carry out the role as well as receiving ongoing support. Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

Hours required: Wednesday evenings. Volunteering with Harryville Community Fridge is a chance to give something back to your local community, so if you can spare one evening a week we would love to hear from you. The Community Fridge is open to all members of the community.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Collect surplus food from Ballymena Tescos between 8.30pm and 9.30pm every Wednesday to be delivered to Harryville Community Fridge
  • Be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting and loading
  • Be able to interact with different individuals
  • Work as part of a team
