Elan Care is a Hartlepool based specialist home care organisation providing flexible, quality care and support to individuals living in their own homes. We specialise in delivering a personalised service for people with learning or physical disabilities, autism, behaviour that challenges, and mental health conditions whose support is contracted by the Local Authority or through direct payments.

Elan Care works in partnership with the landlord of Whitethorn Gardens, who provide individual and shared properties for domiciliary care within this friendly community. We have a staff office within Whitethorn Gardens and are ideally located to support the people living there. Elan Care services consist of 24-hour core staffing to give advice and ad hoc support if required. In addition to this, we provide tailored 1:1 support to enable a person to live safely and help them achieve their desired level of independence.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To support clients with learning disabilities, mental health issues, mobility issues, and behaviour that challenges to the highest standard and in line with their support plan, cultural needs, and wishes.
  • Personal Care – Assisting with personal hygiene e.g. bathing/showering, dressing.
  • Health Support – Monitoring health conditions, administering medication, booking/accompanying clients to appointments, and monitoring diet plans and food intolerances and hydration.
  • Daily Living Skills – Supporting clients with tasks such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and managing finances.
  • Social Activities – Encouraging clients to participate in daily activities such as day trips, recreational/leisure activities, crafts, reading, and writing.
  • Emotional and Communication Support – Providing a listening ear for clients to talk to and advocating for the client’s needs and wishes.
  • Goal Achievement – Supporting clients in achieving personal goals and developing new skills.
  • To keep records in accordance with organisational policies and procedures, that are both legible and accurate.
  • To follow clients' support plans/risk assessments and deliver person-centred care while keeping up to date with any changes made to support plans and risk assessments.
  • To ensure a safe environment for the client to be supported and live independently.
  • To attend training and update skills and knowledge as directed by the Management Team.
  • To uphold the workplace values and ethos of Elan.
  • To liaise with families, social workers, and other professionals when needed.
  • To maintain confidentiality throughout employment.
  • To keep up to date with safeguarding procedures and safeguard clients when needed.
  • Undertake any other duties as appropriate.

Wage and Hours

Type of Work: Paid from £12.65 per hour.

Additional wage information: Double time rates are paid on Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.

Hours: Full Time, Part Time, Bank Work, Nights, Afternoons, Days, Permanent.
