Love the outdoors? Passionate about people? Curious about gardening? If this sounds like you, we’d love to welcome you as a Volunteer Gardener at Wolterton. We aim to build a small community of volunteers who will meet weekly to carry out gardening tasks. Activities include planting, pruning, weeding, tidying borders and pathways, sowing and propagating, harvesting. Basic garden knowledge is preferable but not essential. Good communication and listening skills and being reasonably fit and willing to work in all weathers. A positive, organised and flexible approach to work. Must be 18 or older, able to work with a team, and understand the importance of a well-made cup of tea.

Responsibilities:

  • Planting, pruning, weeding, tidying borders and pathways, sowing and propagating, harvesting.
  • Support garden projects and help maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment for volunteers.

Time commitment:

The sessions will run weekly on a Wednesday from 10am to 1pm, March to October inclusive. The first session will be a taster on 11 March 2026. Interested individuals should pre-book; joining instructions will be sent.

Wolterton is a historic estate set in the heart of the North Norfolk countryside, centered around the beautifully restored Palladian Wolterton Hall—an 18th-century masterpiece originally commissioned by Horatio Walpole.
