Helping connect people and green spaces is at the core of the work of The Conservation Volunteers. This role, as part of the Health and Wellbeing team based at Hollybush Conservation Centre, delivers work supporting people to access nature-based activities and green spaces across Leeds.
Hollybush welcomes 450 volunteers a year to join over 800 group activity sessions connecting adults with green spaces. The broad programme of activities aims to have an opportunity for everyone. The Health & Wellbeing projects provide inclusive ways for people to improve their physical and mental health through volunteering with us.
This Project Officer role includes the delivery of group activity supporting people to build confidence using different modes of sustainable travel, such as public transport, walking, wheeling and cycling, looking at ways to make this more accessible. Alongside this the role will support processes to increase inclusion in the programme of activities delivered across Leeds by carrying out person-centred welcome meetings for people looking to join our projects and in supporting in the volunteer line management of Volunteer Officers and Key Volunteers.
This role will include leading and planning group activity sessions, including the use of public transport; one to one support sessions; volunteer management and mentoring, supporting training and skills, and work to ensure that our volunteer support systems and resources are accessible and inclusive.
We are looking for someone:
- Able to take a trauma informed approach to support people with complex needs
- Driven to overcome barriers and pasisionate to empower individuals to connect with nature and sustainable travel.
