We are looking for a Specialist Mental Health Worker to join our Leeds Sensory Service. This role is 30 hours per week providing one to one and group activities to improve sensory impaired peopleโ€™s mental health.

The role includes the following duties:

  • To be able to communicate effectively with service users who are profoundly Deaf sign language users, hard of hearing or those who are visually impaired or deafblind.
  • To establish respectful, sensitive, professional relationships with service users, demonstrating awareness of the issues faced
  • To complete assessment, support plans and risk assessments with service users

Some of the key skills and experience required for this role are:

  • To have Mental health assessment skills including risk assessment and support plan
  • To have the ability to provide emotional and practical support
  • Experience of facilitating group, peer and self-advocacy sessions in the community.
