Key Information

  • Hours: 24 hrs per week (worked flexibly, but should include Tuesday mornings)
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer
  • Job sharing: This post is not suitable for job sharing.
  • Well-being and flexible working: 15 minutes/day of work time for meditation/being in nature; generous leave policy; supportive team culture; a flexible working environment and supportive team culture, including a term-time membership offer creating additional flexibility for working parents. About the Role

The Education Lead is a pivotal role in the Permaculture Association. The postholder is responsible for delivering and developing the Association’s education strategy. A solid understanding of permaculture and permaculture education is key for the role. But, equally important is to have strong project management skills and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships. The role requires someone who is able to move easily between strategy, operations, stakeholder engagement and project delivery. We are seeking an entrepreneurial candidate that can help us grow our educational work. We want to grow the team and the hours available to do this work.

Job Purpose:

  • Make permaculture education accessible
  • Grow permaculture education networks
  • Share and develop permaculture practices and livelihoods
  • Contribute to building an effective, socially responsible and sustainable educational offering

Working with

You will be part of a team including people leading on communications, membership, fundraising, finance and operations. You will also work closely with educator members of the Association and the wider educators network.

The Permaculture Association has nearly 2,000 members, with many hundreds of local projects and initiatives across England, Scotland and Wales. The Permaculture Association has supported and promoted many different sustainability innovations, many of which have now been widely adopted. We have been an active member of the global community since we first started, supporting a wide range of projects and events.
