INSIDE OUT CHILDREN & FAMILY OUTREACH WORKER
Post: Inside Out Children and Family Outreach Workers (2 posts available)
Location: Jigsaw Centre, HMP Leeds (with travel across West Yorkshire)
Contract: 22.5 hours per week, including every Wednesday
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in an innovative new service, Inside Out, which aims to alleviate the impact of parental imprisonment and support children and families in West Yorkshire to thrive.
As an Inside Out Children and Family Outreach Worker you will provide direct support to parents/carers and children (aged 5-18) in West Yorkshire, who have a loved-one in prison. Support will be provided through one-to-one case work, parent/carer peer support groups and children and young people’s activity groups. You will also play an important role in supporting children and families with lived experience of parental imprisonment to inform the delivery and development of the Inside Out service. Alongside family support, you will work with the Inside Out Strategic Lead to deliver awareness raising and capacity building sessions with schools, early years services and Family Hubs, to increase understanding about the impact of imprisonment on children.
You will be experienced in providing strengths-based, person-centred support (one to one and group work) to children and families. You will be skilled in interagency working, committed to a ‘Think Family’ approach and ideally have a good understanding about the potential impact of parental imprisonment on children and families.
The role will involve travelling across West Yorkshire for meetings, delivering support to children and families in their communities and supporting delivery of training sessions, access to a car is essential.
This is funded post for 3 years starting on the 1 st January 2026
