The Royal Gunpowder Mills is a 170 acre site protected for its industrial heritage and natural history. Almost the whole site is classed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM) and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). We open to the public to share the exhibitions and offer tours and activities. The charity’s aims are to protect, preserve and enhance the special aspects of the site and to share the story of the industrial and social history, the science and the nature.
About the role:
Become one of the team working front of house ensuring visitors get the most out of the experience of being at this historic and natural site. It is a large site with various things to see and do so visitors appreciate having a friendly face to help them during their visit. Assist the Royal Gunpowder Mills staff with “front of house” duties in providing a high quality service to meet and greet visitors and welcome them to the site. You will give advice on what to do when and where to get the most out of their time here.

- With the ability to project a good impression and image through self-presentation.
- Who is confident with their communication skills including listening, observing, answering questions and explaining clearly and effectively.
- Able to work with a wide range of the public in a calm, helpful and friendly way.
- Who has an interest in heritage/nature/history/science.
- With the ability and enthusiasm to keep up-to-date with RGM’s facilities and events.
- Who would like to develop/share their skills and knowledge.
Usually between 1:30pm - 4:30pm. Sundays but occasional weekdays.
