An Accredited museum and award-winning visitor attraction, Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome is a charity and the largest surviving Great War aerodrome in Europe. We are looking for people to become part of a small team helping to expand our understanding of the Aerodrome, its people, aeroplanes and exhibits. This information will be used to enhance the information in our exhibition spaces and the notes for our Tour Guides.
This is primarily an office-based role but it can also be conducted from home. It can also lead to work in other areas of the site including visitor-facing roles. Full training will be given for this role.
Skills
- An interest in early aviation, early 20th Century Social History or Essex History and the people in it.
- Curiosity to search for more information.
- Willing to undertake research using computer resources as well as the books in our extensive library.
- Good computer skills to enable online research.
- Able to produce educational briefing notes.
For this role, the site is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the year although working from home is a possibility. Volunteers are also asked to attend research meetings on site as required. Half day and full day working is available. Please note that when attending site you will need to have personal transport for travel to site as we are not on public transport routes.
