Role Summary: To work together as a team, weeding, planting, digging and generally keeping the gardens looking tidy and cared for. Some members of the team will be trained to use the ride on mower or use electric mowers to keep the grass trim.
Main duties of the role:
- Keep the garden and pond tidy
- Carry out weeding, planting, digging and clearing paths and public areas as needed
- Shred all twigs and make good compost, keeping areas tidy
- Lawns to be mown on a weekly basis either with the ride on or electric mowers by trained members of the team
- Keep all plant pots watered and water other areas as needed
- Care for flower beds
- Report to the Support Services Manager any work which needs to be carried out by external contractors e.g. hedge cutting and tree pruning and discuss with him/her any new projects
Training and Supervision: Full training will be provided. Online Health and Safety training is mandatory on an annual basis. Support from the Volunteer Services team is available to those who require it.
Skills: Previous experience useful but not essential.
Personal Attributes: Passionate about St Helena. Reliable and conscientious with a sense of humour.
