The Board of Directors play a key role in both setting and developing strategy as well as overseeing the operations of the organisation. They are also legally responsible individually and collectively for all activities of the company.
The Board's responsibilities include:
- Making sure the Credit Union is properly managed and fulfills all its financial and legal responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
- Making sure the Credit Union has all the resources, policies and structures necessary to be effective and guarantee the highest standards of corporate governance.
- Leading and monitoring the strategic direction of the credit union through a robust business planning process which includes consultation with the wider credit union membership.
- Leading the way the Credit Union is governed and support, guide and authorise the work of staff and volunteers in operational matters.
- Approving all major decisions and any changes to the policies and procedures manual.
- Making recommendations to the Annual General Meeting on matters such as rule changes or payment of dividends.
We would love to hear from people who live or work in the Colchester Borough or Tendring District who can help the Board further develop and grow the Credit Union for the benefit of its members. The main qualities we are looking for are common sense and a professional approach. However, experience in finance, management, marketing, business and/or links with the voluntary and community sectors would also be valuable.
All Board members must be members of Colchester Credit Union. Being a Board Member requires a minimum time commitment of 3 hours per month to prepare for and attend monthly Board meetings at the Credit Union office in Colchester.
