We are currently recruiting for a Support Worker (Nights) post (36 hrs) at our Crosby House on a permanent full‑time basis. You will provide a professional, caring and effective service to our service users, ensuring they receive the best of care.

Hours

36 hours per week – Prior experience in lone working and night shift working in the UK is essential.

Rota

7‑day rota, 7.30 pm – 7.30 am.

Salary/Rate

£12.81 per hour.

About the role

As a Support/Care Worker you will contribute to the effective provision of an integrated, inclusive and quality service designed to meet the care, social and educational needs of the service users at Crosby House. You will support the full implementation of the 24‑hour curriculum, adhering to statutory & VSA standards, policies and regulatory requirements, and monitor the effective use of staffing resources.

Responsibilities

  • Identify ways of communicating effectively on difficult, complex and sensitive issues, supporting individuals appropriately where specific communication needs have been identified.
  • Update and maintain records and reports according to statutory and organisational procedures and requirements.
  • Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment, including medication administration; minimise risks arising from emergencies and ensure all staff and service users are safe and secure in the workplace.
  • Follow policy and guidance on child protection and support service users to maximise self‑care skills following relevant policies and procedures.
  • Promote the wellbeing and protection of the service users, working with them in ways that promote their rights and responsibilities and supporting them to express their views and preferences about their health and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to the protection of service users from abuse, including identifying possible abuse, handling disclosures and reporting information according to policies and procedures; provide support to students who may have been abused.
  • Ensure that the service users’ physical environment is clean and comfortable, supporting them with their physical care needs, including toileting.
  • Waak in the night shift, contributing to the care and safety of the service users by ensuring they remain awake and alert for the duration of the shift.
  • Provide care and support for service users with particular health needs during the night time hours, including continual observation of visual and audio monitors and being able to act in a manner that provides the best support for the service users.
  • Any other duties which may arise from time to time, provided they are reasonable and within the post holder’s capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Ability and willingness to attain an SCQF Level 6.
  • Practical experience of working with older people.
  • An awareness of issues regarding older people’s needs.
  • Experience of lone working.
