Looking for a volunteering opportunity? Marie Curie is looking for compassionate, everyday people to join our Companion Team within the surrounding areas of Edinburgh, Midlothian and West Lothian.
You don’t need a medical background or all the answers – just a kind heart, a listening ear, and a little time to give. As a Companion Volunteer, you might visit someone and share stories, connect through hobbies/interests, chat about life, update them regarding local or wider activities. Sometimes just a conversation with a cup of tea/coffee in hand provides a steady presence. You may also have the opportunity to volunteer within various care homes across West Lothian.
What you'll do:
- Provide companionship and support
- Help someone express what matters most
- Share helpful information and point them to local resources
- Support families and carers, before and after bereavement
