We are a small, rapidly-expanding charity whose stated objective is “the preservation and protection of good physical and mental health through the provision of Listening and Chaplaincy Services and confidential Pastoral Care and advice for individuals both inside and outside the workplace throughout South Yorkshire.” At our core is the Christian ethos to care holistically for people. Essentially, we are an independent, confidential service supporting people through the challenges of life.
We partner with organisations to support them in providing a culture and environment of holistic well-being; and empower local volunteers to engage with those facing life's challenges. This means our volunteer and staff Listeners and Chaplains operate within a wide range of contexts: Primary and Secondary Care, Businesses, Engineering, Schools, Fire Service, Sports Clubs and specialist charities, working with Patients and their Families, Staff, Students, and the local community. We work with organisations on an ongoing basis, providing 1-1 listening appointments and/or regular chaplaincy visits; but also respond to an organisation following a specific crisis or issue. In addition, we provide training in Listening Skills and other well-being related subjects.
SYCLS has a small programme of Fundraising events that we organise with a view to inspiring others to get involved; plus a programme called 'Do It For SYCLS' (DIFS) where we encourage supporters to come up with their own fundraising ideas and activities, and we provide background support. The skeleton of the programme is in place for 2026 and we are looking for someone to organise the events within this programme plus come up with a few additional achievable and appealing ideas. The role also involves securing volunteer involvement with the DIFS programme.
The job involves:
- Planning, managing and promoting our Fundraising events
- Successfully generating interest and securing sign-ups for the campaigns
- Monitoring and reporting on the progress of different campaigns
- Liaising with staff and volunteers, Churches, Partner Organisations and other current and potential supporters
- Identifying and building relationships with new supporters and expanding the pool of contacts
- Generating financial support through the events to develop our fundraising income and contribute towards annual targets
- Producing materials and developing interesting and attractive campaign visuals and themes.

- Act as an ambassador for SYCLS, upholding our values and representing the charity positively at all times.
- IT skills including Microsoft - Word for report-writing, Excel for planning and tracking
- Email - organised approach to tracking emails; friendly and professional style
- Canva - desirable as we use this for graphics

FTE: £25-28,000 dependent on experience
