This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in raising the profile of a vital local charity, helping to change the lives of young people facing homelessness. With a strong understanding of social media marketing, you will manage Roundabout’s social media schedule, creating engaging content across multiple platforms. Your role will involve designing eye-catching graphics, writing compelling posts, and responding to trends to boost reach and engagement. A creative thinker, you’ll be eager to stay ahead of social media trends, with experience in producing short-form video content to enhance our digital presence. You’ll work closely with the fundraising team to strategically support event promotion, fundraising campaigns, and business partnerships, helping to increase income and strengthen community. You’ll also have excellent interpersonal skills, collaborating with Roundabout’s services to uncover and share powerful stories that educate and inspire.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Fundraising Marketing: Develop and execute promotional strategies for key fundraising events and campaigns (e.g., Sleep Out, The Yorkshire Chocolate Festival, A Night at the Musicals). This includes coordinating with the fundraising team, creating targeted messaging, graphic designs and ensuring cohesive branding across all promotional materials.
  • Charity Storytelling & Updates: Work closely with project workers to uncover and share impactful stories about Roundabout’s work, highlighting the activities young people participate in and those who are willing and happy to share their experiences. Ensure all necessary consent forms are completed, outlining where and how information can be shared. Maintain accurate records of consent and update them regularly to ensure compliance and ethical storytelling.
  • Design & Print: Design marketing materials using Canva as required for all services at Roundabout, along with fundraising events and campaigns including social media graphics, printed marketing & animated videos.
  • Photography & Videography: Photograph staff, young people, projects and donations for use on social media, press releases, leaflets, letters & marketing materials. Ensure photos are saved, consent is given and recorded safely for everyone featuring in photographs and videos.
  • Social Media Management: Manage and schedule varied content across all social media platforms, ensuring consistent engagement to build relationships with followers and supporters. Research and improve social posts and engagement where necessary, responding to current trends and keeping updated with social media’s changes.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Regularly track and report on social media and website analytics, providing insights into performance, website traffic and audience engagement for evaluation, making recommendations for improvement. Monitor website performance and user engagement, making recommendations for improvements to enhance accessibility, functionality, and overall user experience.
  • Newsletter & Emails: Plan, write content and design the charity’s e-newsletter through our E-Tapestry database, including service updates and upcoming fundraising opportunities.
  • Cultural Calendar & Awareness Dates: Research and identify key cultural, awareness, and celebration dates that align with the charity’s values and mission. Communicate these dates to the wider organisation, ensuring opportunities for engagement are maximised. Design and create engaging graphics and content to mark these occasions on digital platforms, and where possible, showcase young people’s participation in related activities through photos, stories, or quotes to foster inclusivity and community engagement.
  • Other Duties: Assist the fundraising team with event preparation, including setup and on-the-day support to ensure smooth and successful fundraising activities. Capture photos/videos where required. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support communication needs. Adhere to Roundabout’s policies and procedures at all times. Such other duties as may be required by the CEO and Fundraising and Communication team for the benefit of any Roundabout stakeholders. Act in the best interests of Roundabout at all times. Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet the charity’s values. Participate in training and undertake appropriate learning and development, as identified through appraisal and regular reviews with line manager.

Person Specification:

  • Specific Knowledge, Experience & Skills: Demonstrable experience in a previous role in marketing, social media management, or communications, preferably within the charity or fundraising sector. Ability to craft compelling narratives for different audiences, including supporters, funders, and the general public, with excellent grammar and attention to detail. Experience using Canva (or similar design tools) to create engaging digital and print materials, with knowledge of video editing and animation being beneficial. Awareness of current trends and best practices across social media platforms, including content strategy and audience engagement techniques. Understanding of branding guidelines and visual communication, ensuring consistency across marketing materials. Experience in writing and sharing compelling stories, case studies, or impact reports to engage different audiences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences and platforms. Ability to use analysis and insights to proactively suggest new strategies and improvements to social media and website performance. Knowledge in Meta Analytics and GA4 would be beneficial. Have experience in planning, developing, and executing marketing campaigns, ensuring they effectively reach and engage target audiences while aligning with organisational objectives.
