Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for an Activity Group Coordinator to join our team delivering Dementia Groups across South East Wales. You will join us on a part‑time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £13.49 per hour (FTE £24,552 per annum).

About the Role

To coordinate and facilitate the operation of activity and support groups for people living with dementia and their carers. The role includes designing, preparing and delivering dementia‑friendly activities on a weekly basis, while supporting the Service Manager with the coordination of volunteers, including recruitment and training, to enhance overall service provision.

Location & Hours

Home‑based, with easy access to groups across South East Wales (Brecon, Newbridge and Abertillery). 21 hours per week, working Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Requirements

  • To be considered, you must live within easy reach of the groups, hold a valid full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle with business insurance (mileage paid or reimbursed).

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience of dementia (personal and/or professional).
  • Understanding of the benefits of group settings and activities for people living with dementia.
  • Safeguarding vulnerable adults.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Good organisational and facilitation skills.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance (mileage paid or reimbursed).

Experience

  • Experience working with people living with dementia and/or their carers.
  • Delivering activities within a group setting.
  • Proficiency in standard IT systems – Microsoft Office/Word/Excel, client database entry and management.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Day‑to‑day coordination of the group provision, including activity planning and delivery, organising refreshment provision and regular communication with group members and venues.
  • Coordination of volunteers, ensuring arrangements for their recruitment and training, and providing support to maximise their value in each group.
  • Delivering a high‑quality activity plan at groups, in line with best practice and feedback from attendees.
  • General administrative duties, including data entry for the RVS Management Information Systems.
  • Participation in local fundraising for the Royal Voluntary Service, as agreed with the Service Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Assisting the Service Manager to ensure compliance with statutory standards, policies and procedures – e.g. health and safety, food hygiene, data protection and safeguarding.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties in line with the purpose and remit of the post, as agreed with the Service Manager.
