We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the team in delivering the planned repair and maintenance programme for the Council’s diverse property portfolio. This is a career graded opportunity, offering development and progression as applicable for candidates at different stages of their professional journey.

The Council’s property portfolio includes listed buildings, leisure centres, museums, civic buildings, commercial premises, and industrial units. This varied estate provides an excellent opportunity to develop and apply building knowledge and maintenance skills across a wide range of property types.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of the Council’s asset management strategy through planned and reactive repair and maintenance works, as well as asset replacement programmes. Depending on experience, responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with or leading on property inspections
  • Condition surveys
  • Preparing reports and specifications
  • Managing works on site

You will contribute to the identification and delivery of planned maintenance programmes, while also responding promptly to reactive repairs. As you progress within the role, you will develop the ability to independently manage contractors, control budgets, and oversee projects to completion.

Candidates should have a background or interest in construction, building maintenance, or property management. A bachelor's degree or equivalent is desirable, or experience in a relevant field. Support for further professional development will be provided. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills are essential. You will need to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external contractors, demonstrating a professional, diplomatic, and customer‑focused approach. You should be self‑motivated, well organised, and able to manage your time effectively to meet deadlines.
