We aim to be the "Octopus Energy for industry": a modern tech platform providing new renewable energy products with radical transparency, accelerating deployment of renewables and helping customers cut costs and carbon without complexity.

Role: Founders Associate

We're hiring a Founders Associate to work directly with Volter's founders and extend their bandwidth across the whole business.

This is a generalist role for someone hungry, ambitious and keen to learn. One week you might be scoping and modelling a new commercial proposition, the next building an automation for ops, running a hiring process, preparing investor materials or unblocking a customer issue. No task is too big or too small - what matters is that the most important thing gets done, fast.

It's the closest thing to a founder apprenticeship: full context, real responsibility, and exposure to every part of building a company. Past people in roles like this go on to lead functions, become operators and start their own companies.

Day-to-day responsibilities

Special projects & strategy

• Own high-priority projects end-to-end across commercial, ops, finance, product and people - scope, execute, deliver

• Support commercial strategy: new product/market analysis, testing & launch

• Turn founder ideas into structured plans and then into shipped outcomes

Analysis & modelling

• Build models and analyses that drive real decisions: unit economics, channel performance, market sizing, business cases

• Get into the data yourself - find the answer, sense-check it, and present it simply

Building the machine

• Design, improve and automate processes across the business using modern tooling and AI

• Spot what's breaking as we scale and fix it before it becomes a problem

Whatever it takes

• Support fundraising, investor updates and board prep

• Jump on the most important problem of the week - even when it's unglamorous

• Act as a trusted extension of the founders internally and externally

What experience you bring

• 3-5 years of experience in a demanding, fast-paced environment - consulting, banking, or startup operator role

• Strong numerical ability and attention to detail - your work is right, not just fast

• Ability to understand business models and commercial strategy quickly and deeply

• Proven bias to action: examples of things you made happen without being asked

• Track record of learning new domains very fast and delivering in them

• Excellent written and verbal communication - you make complex things simple

Desirable

• Exposure to energy, climate, marketplaces or B2B

• Experience building automations or working with AI tooling day-to-day

• Early-stage startup experience
