About Volter

Volter is a top-tier climate VC-backed B2B energy tech platform building the products that make clean, renewable power simple for businesses everywhere. The energy transition is a huge and vital opportunity, but it's currently too difficult for commercial & industrial companies to achieve. Historically, the energy industry has been too opaque, complex and lacking in trust. We're fixing that. We aim to be the "Octopus Energy for industry": a modern tech platform providing new renewable energy products with radical transparency, accelerating deployment of renewables and helping customers cut costs and carbon without complexity.

We're excited to use technology to help our customers deploy & utilise more renewable energy and fast-forward the energy transition - and we need your help!

Role: Commercial & Pricing Associate

We're hiring a Commercial & Pricing Associate to sit at the centre of Volter's revenue engine.

You'll own the day-to-day tender requests coming in from demand customers: pricing them, structuring them, and getting responses back to our partners fast. Speed and responsiveness win deals in this market - you'll be responsible for hitting our SLAs and keeping partners happy while protecting our margins, and what really matters at the end of the day is how many of those tenders you win, not just how fast you turn them around.

This is a full-stack commercial execution role where pricing, partnerships and deal execution meet. You'll work within clear guardrails but be trusted to operate autonomously day-to-day, and you'll also pick up export tendering and quoting for generators.

It's high volume, fast-paced and deadline-driven - and that's exactly why you'll love it.

Day-to-day responsibilities

Tender pricing & deal ownership (core)

  • Own the day-to-day import tenders/RFQs end-to-end: triage, price, structure and respond within SLA

  • Handle a high volume and frequency of deals per day, multi-tasking across live tenders while keeping quality high

  • Develop strong pricing intuition across HH / bespoke contracts: win deals where appropriate, price out where risk-adjusted returns don't meet the bar

  • Take on board commercial feedback and adjust deals as needed to hit our targets across growth and margin

  • Manage deal pipeline, turnaround times and win rates; refine pricing continuously based on market conditions, broker feedback and win/loss analysis

Export tendering & quoting

  • Support export tenders and quotes for generators, applying the same speed and rigour as on the demand side

Partner responsiveness & collaboration

  • Be highly responsive to our brokers and channel partners on live deals: clarifications, revisions and negotiations

  • Work closely with TPI Managers on partner priorities, feedback loops and win/loss learnings

  • Work with Ops to make sure won deals flow smoothly into onboarding and billing

  • Maintain strong CRM hygiene and reporting; surface market insights from day-to-day deal flow

Process, tooling & automation

  • Help improve RFQ workflows, pricing processes and internal tooling

  • Work closely with founders, product and engineering to identify bottlenecks and improve automation so we can handle more volume, faster

What experience you bring

  • 4+ years in a commercial, pricing, trading or analytical role, ideally somewhere fast and high-volume, think inbound sales teams closing leads at pace, or deal flow in the £50-100 range where speed is everything.

  • Strong numerical ability and commercial judgement

  • Proven ability to handle high-volume, deadline-driven work: you can multi-task and manage to tight deadlines without dropping quality or letting partners down

  • Experience working on live deal flow, tenders or structured products

  • Excellent communication and partner management skills, especially in fast-moving external conversations

  • Ability to balance speed vs accuracy in decision-making

  • High ownership mentality and ability to operate autonomously within guardrails

  • Hands-on experience. You've actually priced, negotiated or closed live business yourself.

Desirable (genuinely a bonus not required)

  • Exposure to energy, renewables, infrastructure or industrial B2B

  • Experience with export/generation pricing or PPAs

  • Background in data engineering or business intelligence

Who you are

  • Commercially sharp and numerically fluent - you enjoy pricing and decision-making

  • You like a fast-paced environment: volume energises you rather than overwhelms you

  • You don't let a live tender go cold. You're relentless about getting deals over the line

  • Comfortable being "in the cockpit", owning revenue-critical workflows daily

  • Highly execution-focused: you get through volume without dropping quality

  • Strong relationship builder - you keep partners happy even when saying no

  • Curious, pragmatic and outcome-driven, with buckets of grit

  • High agency: you take initiative and solve problems without waiting for direction

  • You communicate clearly and keep things as simple as possible

  • Energised by early-stage startups and want to have outsized impact

What you can expect from us

  • A dynamic and fast-changing environment with incredible responsibility and autonomy

  • The ability to build and own something from the very beginning

  • Working directly with and learning from experienced startup founders who’ve invested in and scaled businesses up to several billion dollars in valuation

  • Working on market-leading and genuinely impactful products that help solve the climate crisis

  • A kick-ass team of colleagues

  • We value in-person time at our office in London

  • Competitive compensation based on candidate profile with generous employee equity

Note that the role is in-person in London, United Kingdom, and we are currently unable to offer skilled worker visa sponsorship.
