About Us:
Voltempo is developing rapid DC Hypercharging solutions for a range of commercial vehicle sectors, initially here in the UK, but progressively internationally as the transport sector electrifies. The company holds several international patents and is engaged in the end-to-end design, supply, site commissioning and servicing of charging solutions, targeting commercial vehicles. The business is currently scaling and is well supported by both its international shareholders and its role under the UK Government eFreight2030 programme, where it is leading a consortium of UK logistics fleet operators to deploy the UK's first eHGV charging network.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a CAD Design Engineer with strong experience in AutoCAD 2D and ideally Autodesk Inventor to support the rollout of EV charging infrastructure projects. The role involves designing EV charging sites, coordinating with utility stakeholders, and delivering the civil elements associated with EV charge point installations. You will be involved in designing electrical duct routes, foundations, and site layouts, as well as collaborating closely with DNOs, IDNOs, and ICPs to ensure effective and compliant electrical connections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design the civil infrastructure works for EV charging sites, including cable ducting/trenching, foundation pads, access roads, and associated structural elements.
- Coordinate with DNOs, IDNOs, and ICPs to facilitate LV and HV electrical connections and duct routes from point of connection (PoC) to charge points.
- Produce or review site layouts drawings, cable ducting routing, and civil drawings (e.g., trench cross-sections, foundation details, and access arrangements).
- Conduct site surveys and feasibility assessments prior to EV charger installations.
- Support with method statements, risk assessments, and construction plans.
- Support design reviews and value engineering for cost-effective and constructible solutions.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- BEng/BSc in Design, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Understanding of electrical cable ducting/trenching practices and utility coordination.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D (Inventor experience a plus).
- Strong coordination, reporting, and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable:
- Experience in civil/structural engineering with exposure to infrastructure utility connections.
- Background in the EV charging, renewables, highways, or utilities sectors.
- Experience collaborating with or working for DNOs, IDNOs, or ICPs.
- Knowledge of EV charging technologies and site planning.
Key Skills & Competencies:
