We work across all aspects of OHL projects, including wiring, platform works, utility gangs, steelwork erection, diversion works, logistics, and site management, covering 400k V, 275k V, and 132k V networks.
In addition to on-site services, we support Tier 1 contractors with expert advice, method statements, risk assessments and specialist work instructions.
We also deliver mandatory OHL training, ensuring the highest standards across the industry.
Role Description
We are currently seeking a full-time SHE Advisor to join our team.
This role will involve regular travel to sites across the UK with occasional working days based at our Coalville office.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and promoting our commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental standards across all operations.
The primary focus of the role will be undertaking regular site audits and inspections, providing practical SHE advice to site teams, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with company, client and legislative requirements.
The role will also support the ongoing development and maintenance of the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) and ISO requirements, ensuring that relevant records, processes and evidence are maintained and that actions arising from audits and reviews are followed through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular SHE site audits and inspections across Voltage Solutions projects throughout the UK.
- Provide practical SHE advice and guidance to managers, supervisors and site personnel.
- Identify unsafe practices, non-conformances and areas for improvement, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Support accident, incident and near-miss investigations, including identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, company procedures and client requirements.
- Maintain and continually improve the SHE elements of the company’s Integrated Management System.
- Assist with the preparation of SHE reports, statistics, trends, audit findings, NCRs, incidents and corrective actions for management review.
- Support internal and external ISO audits, including preparing relevant documentation, records and evidence.
- Monitor SHE objectives, KPIs and continual improvement actions.
- Keep up to date with changes in relevant legislation, standards and industry best practice.
- Deliver proactive toolbox talks and safety briefings across projects.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the business and encourage continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong knowledge of UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and good industry practice.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent H&S qualification preferred.
- Experience carrying out site audits and inspections within the overhead line power, transmission and distribution industry.
- Experience of accident/incident investigation and corrective action management.
- Good understanding of ISO management systems and experience maintaining or working within an ISO-certified business.
- Experience preparing SHE reports, statistics and management information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with site teams, managers and clients.
- Excellent organisational skills, strong computer and IT skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload across multiple projects.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK.
- Previous experience within the OHL power, transmission, and distribution industry is highly desirable.
