About Volta
Volta is the category-defining, fully vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform – from capital to clusters to software, under a founder-led enterprise.
Our mission is The Utility of Compute™: AI infrastructure as dependable and available as electricity, for every organization that needs it.
Launched with a $10B strategic partnership with one of the leading frontier AI labs, a Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, and a $5B AI Infrastructure Fund, Volta is building the infrastructure layer of the AI era from the ground up.
We are 100+ people across London, Palo Alto, and New York, with rapid growth expectations to hundreds.
About The Role
As our first dedicated treasury hire, you will own cash, liquidity, funding and financial risk across a multi-entity, multi-currency group.
You will safeguard a nine-figure cash base, manage FX and counterparty risk, build our treasury policy and controls from the ground up, and support the debt financing that underpins our infrastructure build-out.
This is a hands-on, build-it role with a clear path to Head of Treasury as we scale.
- What You Will Be Doing
- Cash and liquidity
- Manage group cash across entities and currencies; maintain rolling liquidity and burn forecasts against the capex and operating plan.
- Select and manage short-term investments (money market funds, deposits, T-bills) within board-approved limits, balancing yield, liquidity and capital preservation.
- FX and interest-rate risk
- Identify, measure and manage FX exposure across a USD-functional group with GBP and EUR balances; recommend and execute hedging where appropriate.
- Monitor interest-rate exposure as debt facilities come on stream.
- Banking and treasury operations
- Own banking relationships, mandates, signatories and payment controls; lead bank onboarding and rationalization as we scale beyond current providers.
- Manage day-to-day treasury operations, settlements and cash positioning.
- Debt and project finance
- Support structuring and management of project-level and corporate debt financing tied to customer offtake contracts, including covenant monitoring and lender reporting.
- Policy, risk and controls
- Draft and maintain the group treasury policy (eligible instruments, counterparty limits, minimum credit ratings, maximum tenors) and the broader financial-risk framework.
- Design treasury controls to support SOX 404 readiness and the PCAOB audit pathway.
- Produce treasury reporting for the CFO, board and investors.
What You Bring
- 5+ years in corporate treasury, ideally with scale-up, capital-intensive or pre-IPO experience.
- Treasury qualification (ACT / AMCT) and/or an accounting or finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA).
- Strong multi-currency cash and FX experience; comfortable with money market funds, deposits and short-dated instruments.
- A controls mindset and the discipline to build process where none yet exists.
- Clear, numbers-led communicator who can operate independently in a lean, fast-moving environment.
- Nice to Have
- Exposure to infrastructure, data center or project finance.
- Experience supporting a US listing, SEC reporting or SOX implementation.
- ERP migration experience (we are moving off Xero to a full ERP).
- REQ-10
