About Volta

Volta is the category-defining, fully vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform – from capital to clusters to software, under a founder-led enterprise. Our mission is The Utility of Compute™: AI infrastructure as dependable and available as electricity, for every organization that needs it. Launched with a $10B strategic partnership with one of the leading frontier AI labs, a Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, and a $5B AI Infrastructure Fund, Volta is building the infrastructure layer of the AI era from the ground up. We are 100+ people across London, Palo Alto, and New York, with rapid growth expectations to hundreds.

About The Role

Volta is a pre-revenue AI infrastructure company scaling rapidly across five countries after a major Series A. Our finance team is small, senior and hands-on - and we need a strong all-round accountant to keep the core running as volume grows.

As General Accountant you will handle the day-to-day accounting across our entities: processing, journals, reconciliations, VAT and month-end tasks, currently in Xero and soon in a group ERP. You will work directly with the VP Accounting and SSC Reporting Manager, with genuine exposure to everything from multi-currency banking to equity accounting. This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who wants breadth, responsibility and a front-row seat to a finance function being built for a US listing.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Process supplier invoices, employee expenses and payment runs across group entities, applying the PO and approval policy
  • Post journals for accruals, prepayments, payroll and intercompany, with supporting documentation
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations (bank, AP, payroll, deposits) to monthly deadlines
  • Support UK VAT returns and assist with overseas VAT compliance (Germany, Norway, Spain)
  • Maintain the fixed asset and prepayments registers, including capitalization under group policy
  • Assist with the month-end close checklist and entity reporting packs
  • Support external audit requests with clean, well-referenced evidence
  • Help migrate data and processes from Xero to the new group ERP

What You Bring

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) actively studying, or equivalent experience; study support provided
  • 2+ years in an accounting role covering AP, journals and reconciliations
  • Solid double-entry fundamentals and genuine attention to detail
  • Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots; more is a bonus)
  • Experience with Xero or a comparable ledger system; multi-currency exposure helpful
  • Organized and reliable against fixed deadlines, with clear written communication
  • Curiosity and willingness to take on unfamiliar tasks in a fast-changing environment
