About the Role
This is not a traditional accounting role focused on maintaining legacy systems. At Volta, you will help build the finance function from first principles, contributing to the design of processes, controls, and reporting in a business deploying capital at global scale. Working closely with the Senior Financial Accountant and the wider Financial Accounting and Transactional Function, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting while supporting the build-out of a scalable, best-in-class accounting environment across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of the monthly financial close
- Prepare and post accrual, prepayment, payroll, capex, revenue, and FX entries, among others
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for review
- Cash, AR, AP, fixed assets, other payables and receivables, equity
- Support transactional processing
- Approvals, audit trail, and clean ledgers
- Intercompany accounting and cross charges
- Support internal financial reporting
- Assist in monthly reporting packages
- Support the analysis of variance to budget and prior periods
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and risks
- Assist management with ad hoc reporting and partner with FP&A and other teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Assist in building and documenting financial controls, accounting policies, and governance frameworks
- Track capital spend and asset capitalization
- Maintain fixed asset register
- Support external reporting
- Prepare U.S. GAAP (and IFRS where applicable) external financial statements
- Support external audits and act as a key point of contact for auditors
- Prepare support for auditors
- Contribute to the implementation and optimization of ERP/accounting systems
- Assist with tax compliance, indirect tax (e.g., VAT/sales tax) returns, and regulatory filings across jurisdictions
- Maintain and enhance the general ledger and chart of accounts
Requirements
- CPA (or equivalent)
- Audit background
- 2–5 years of post-qualification experience
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including U.S. GAAP (IFRS exposure is a plus)
- Experience with month-end close and financial reporting
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth, capital-intensive environment
- Strong Excel skills; ERP experience is a plus
Nice to Have
- Experience in infrastructure, energy, or data centre environments
- Exposure to multi-entity, international accounting environments
- Experience in a startup or scale-up environment
