We are recruiting for an Area Sales Manager to join the Network Sales team at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) to be based in the North of England or Scotland on a full‑time permanent basis. Our areas are divided by our Investor Groups so regular domestic travel is required, including overnight stays. It is an exciting time to join us as we continue our success in the Commercial Vehicle space with the recent launch of our Halo Transporter Sportline and the development of campervan and passenger‑carrying variants such as the ID. Buzz and Multivan.
You will be part of a small but highly effective team that touches all areas of our business, requiring an understanding of not only dealer processes and challenges but also our own internal functions. The Area Sales Manager is responsible for managing the operational performance and strategic alignment of their network partners for VWCV. You will also work closely with the network partner management to ensure that their short, medium and long‑term plans and performance are aligned and integrated with the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) strategy.
Typical duties may include:
- 4 dealer visits (including one overnight stay)
- Internal Teams meetings to keep up to speed with product, tactical, and marketing matters
- A morning forecasting session
- Time to review data and plan for the following week
- Monthly team meetings held in Milton Keynes at our Head Office
What you could be doing:
- Ensuring our network partners understand the VWCV strategic vision and intent and operate in alignment with that strategic intent
- Developing and leveraging relationships and brand focus within each retailer to ensure that performance objectives are achieved
- Ensuring each retailer maximises their vehicle stock against targets in order to maximise sales potential and profitability
- Ensuring all retailers in the area focus on delivering excellent customer service
- Measuring, monitoring and putting in place strategies and tactics to improve network partners performance
- Engaging all retailers in the delivery of a continual improvement culture, including reviewing retailer training plans
- Assisting network partners to achieve a sustainable business model through strategic alignment with the group and VWCV
Skills & experience you can bring to the role:
- An ability to effectively engage and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders within the retailer businesses and brand, in a variety of business settings
- A thorough understanding of the core processes necessary to deliver retailer excellence in your specified area
- A practical level of business financial awareness, sufficient to provide valued input and insight at a retailer operational level while recognising areas of risk and opportunity for the retailer or brand
- Knowledge of the automotive industry
- Experience of working in a customer‑focused environment
- Previous proven sales experience
