About The Role

GCS are recruiting for a Group Vehicle Operations and Logistics Manager on a full-time permanent basis.

Reporting into the Head of Group Vehicle Operations you will be responsible for leading the daily operational management, continuous improvement and strategic development of the UK supply chain and stakeholder relationships in respect of new and used finished vehicle logistics. You will be delivering accurate short (current month and quarter), medium (current year) and long-term (5-10 year) supply chain capacity planning, identifying critical risks and pressure points and quickly implementing solutions to deliver an efficient and cost-effective supply chain. Another key part of your role will be to ensure the accurate financial forecasting, reporting and analysis on Volkswagen Group’s supply chain identifying opportunities to reduce cost per unit delivered without compromising service levels. The role also includes responsibility for sustainable developments and reporting, acting as the lead for the Group Vehicle Operations department in the VWG UK sustainability forum.

Skills & experience you can bring to the role:

  • Experience of effectively managing multiple complex and often competing requirements
  • Proven ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels including simplifying complex situations for multiple stakeholders, including up to Board level
  • Excellent people development and leadership capability
  • Strong experience of managing complex multi-supplier and multi-modal logistics operations
  • Proven experience of driving change to improve business performance and/or efficiency, including sustainable initiatives
  • Excellent stakeholder management across all levels, internal and external

A typical week could include:

  • Day to day leadership of your high performing team of 5 and onward supplier base
  • Managing the daily operational and planning activities across the team, including using various data and information sources to generate a clear picture on inbound vehicle volumes from factory, and using this to ensure supplier capacities are in place for on-time delivery to our customers
  • Monitoring performance of multiple Supplier Partners across Ports, Vehicle Handling, Vehicle Deliveries and Transit Damage
  • Developing and delivering continuous improvements and future strategy for VWG UK Vehicle Logistics, including working alongside Procurement and Legal stakeholders on tender processes and contract negotiations
  • Collaborating with VWG UK Brands to understand production volumes and key factory activities, working to mitigate any risks to the UK logistics network
