Hybrid Working: Our current hybrid working policy requires a minimum of 60% of working time to be based in the Milton Keynes office, however flexibility is expected to meet the needs of the business and the role. This role requires working one in four Saturdays.
Hours / Contract Type: Full Time Permanent, 35 hours per week

What you’ll be doing:
- Underwriting all customer types and score bands in line with defined procedures and risk policies.
- Meeting or exceeding all Underwriting Service Level Agreements to support swift customer decisions.
- Making well‑judged credit decisions that maintain acceptable bad debt levels and align with the VWFS risk appetite.
- Handling inbound calls from the retailer network professionally, offering clear guidance and decisions.
- Verifying customer identification and assessing documentation to accurately establish affordability.
- Investigating fraud referrals in line with agreed processes and controls.
- Building strong relationships with retailers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth case progression.
- Resolving retailer queries promptly and in accordance with process requirements.
- Supporting the New Business Operations team with underwriting expertise when needed.
- Following key controls to safeguard the business and ensure compliance.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and contributing to initiatives led by the New Business Leadership team.
Essential Experience & Skills:
- Experience in customer service, call centre, or financial services roles.
- Previous underwriting experience, ideally within the automotive sector.
- Strong understanding of the Data Protection Act and Consumer Credit Act.
- Awareness of Vulnerable Customer requirements, Treating Customers Fairly, and FCA regulations.
- Ability to review and interpret financial and accounting information accurately.
- Confident PC user with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage high workloads and meet deadlines.
- Strong focus on delivering good customer outcomes.
- Confident engaging with stakeholders across the business.
