Hybrid working
We want you to get the best out of your placement, so we operate a hybrid policy where undergraduates work in the office 3 days per week. There may be times where you will need to be in more frequently depending on the needs of the business.
Eligibility
To apply for our undergraduate placement scheme, you must be studying for an undergraduate degree that requires a placement year. Master’s students are not eligible for this placement. Please consider before applying if you live more than 60 minutes away from post code MK15 8HG, that you would need to relocate to either Milton Keynes or be a commutable distance (within 60 minutes).

Position
Marketing Communications Undergraduate – join our Marketing team for a fast‑paced and engaging setting.
What will you be doing?
- Manage the review and approval of all financial promotions across national and local channels, including digital, print, TV, radio and point of sale.
- Be the dedicated subject matter expert for financial promotions, managing the approvals process end‑to‑end ensuring all materials are reviewed and are clear, fair and not misleading.
- Work collaboratively with Marketing Managers to respond to briefs for promotional terms and conditions and advise on the creation of compliant financial promotions.
- Manage and monitor workflows, assigning all inbound jobs and enquiries to relevant departments across Marketing, Compliance, and Campaign Development teams.
- Create training materials and deliver regular training webinars and workshops to Volkswagen brand marketing teams and marketing agencies relating to regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
- Collaborate with e‑commerce and integrations teams to review and approve customer‑facing digital platforms to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Assess competitor (and outside category) financial promotions activity to benchmark and assess opportunities for improvements.
- Manage the updates to Volkswagen Financial Services advertising guidelines, ensuring any new regulation and changes to advertising approach are accurately represented.
What are we looking for?
- Currently studying a degree in Marketing, or a related field.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to review and interpret complex information.
- Credible and confident, able to communicate at all levels across the business.
- Have a customer‑oriented approach.
- Creative and proactive approach to problem‑solving.
- Ability to work both independently and effectively within a team.
- PC literacy – especially in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Recruitment process
- Apply and upload your CV, covering letter and answer a few application questions.
- You’ll be invited to complete a Situational Judgement Test – a short multiple‑choice question set to help us understand how you may approach situations.
- If you pass this stage, you will be invited to complete an online video interview where you will have the opportunity to tell us more about yourself.
- If successful, your last step in the journey is to attend an in‑person Assessment Centre at our Milton Keynes office. You’ll also meet some of our managers and our current undergraduates to find out more about a placement year with us.
