About the role:
This role reports to the Maintenance Services Team Manager and forms part of the Maintenance department within Fleet. The Maintenance Services Controllers primary purpose is to support the team in effectively managing our fleet of passenger and light commercial vehicles throughout their life by providing cost effective solutions to repairs whilst maintaining exceptional levels of customer service.
Responsibilities:
- To authorise mechanical repairs and routine maintenance to private use and fleet vehicles, in accordance with the manufacturer’s service requirements and VWFS budgetary controls.
- Make sound technical decisions by analysing the causes of mechanical failures, evaluating solutions and ensuring that sound financial decisions are negotiated and implemented on a day to day basis using agreed authority levels.
- Have the ability to diagnose technical reports and translate the findings to an end user with a clear non-technical approach.
- Acting as a key point of contact for colleagues across Fleet to ensure that customer queries are dealt with in an efficient, timely and professional manner creating win-win situations in all instances.
- The ability to communicate in all mediums effectively to maximise customer satisfaction levels, reduce vehicle downtime incidents, and identifying common themes to control expenditure.
- To ensure that department KPI’s in the area of cost control, 1 Link, telephone response times and budgetary requirements are adhered to at all times.
- Actively participate in a culture that adheres to TCF outcomes as defined by the FCA.
- Contribute to ensuring that Fleet directorate is able to demonstrate compliance to all regulatory requirements and to highlight deviation from this at the first opportunity in accordance with FCA regulations.
- Carry out a root cause analysis of vehicle component failures and required repairs.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience utilising the 1 Link platform
- Proven mechanical skills and experience (City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Technical apprenticeship up to level 3 or equivalent.
- Previous Maintenance Control experience or Volkswagen Group Retailer Service Reception or Workshop Control.
- A confident and articulate, customer focused telephone and ecommerce manner.
- Excellent PC skills
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate technical information clearly too all stakeholders with a methodical and disciplined approach to working.
