Responsibilities

  • Ensure all activities are compliant with Safety and Quality procedure.
  • Site productivity and delivery as instructed by Foreman and Chargehand.
  • Implement all instructions received from Foreman and Chargehand.
  • Organisation and control of allocated site operatives including subcontract labour and plant operators.
  • Delivery of allocated work packages in accordance with safety, quality and technical requirements as directed by Foreman.
  • Assist Foreman to lead and direct gangs of men in a safe manner on all VolkerRail sites in the absence of a Chargehand.
  • Undertake any necessary training as directed.
  • Maintain good site discipline.
  • Be of presentable appearance commensurate with allocated duties at all times.
  • Work as directed at all times.
  • Promote the awareness of VolkerRail in a positive manner at all times.
  • Alert Senior Management to any non-conformance or deficiency in quality, materials, services or workmanship.
  • Ensure site noise is kept to a minimum and disruption to the railway's neighbours is kept to a minimum.
  • Liaise and communicate with VolkerRail staff and contractors plus all relevant external contacts as required to discharge the duties and responsibilities of this JD/SRS.
  • Discharge these safety critical duties and responsibilities within this JD/SRS and any other safety critical competencies are mandatory upon the post holder.
  • Mandatory drugs and alcohol screening is required.

Qualifications

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience in the Rail Industry is advantageous but not essential.
