Responsibilities
- Ensure all engineering duties are performed and that engineers under your control complete their duties.
- Educate and mentor the engineering team.
- Produce RAMS, temporary works briefs, ITPs, weekly progress and planning updates, NCRs, TQs and early warnings.
- Prepare construction methodology documentation including RAMS and ITPs to ensure compliance with the company’s quality management system and the employer’s requirements.
- Produce as-built documentation from the site.
- Forecast materials, procure and reconcile.
- Collate site data for inclusion in daily progress reports.
- Maintain accurate records – diaries, photographs, marked-up drawings and ensure the engineering team does the same.
- Ensure that construction drawings are available and checked at least two weeks prior to implementation.
- Manage the production and implementation of the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) for your section of the works.
- Manage requests for information (RFIs).
- Champion best practice, including new and advancing technology.
- Assist in the management of the SMP and be aware of your own and the engineers’ responsibilities within the SMP.
- Support management of supply chain during construction, including progress review, coordination and feedback.
- Maintain quality performance at site level, ensuring standards of workmanship and documentation.
- Undertake buildability reviews of design information.
- Ensure adherence of the project team to information management procedures and requirements.
- Implement the quality management system in your daily activities and support its implementation in line with quality policies.
Qualifications
- Technical qualification: degree in civil engineering or equivalent HND.
- Proven technical and organisational skills.
- Ability to produce work package plans, task briefing sheets and safe systems of work.
- Knowledge of safety, quality and environmental issues.
- Experience in civil engineering.
