VolkerLaser repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures, offering a tailored package of specialist works to clients across the UK. Our structural solutions include bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair and cathodic protection works, steel repair and strengthening work, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement. We also provide specialist lightweight decking and access solutions, as well as being specialists in long bridge and cable refurbishment. VolkerLaser is under the umbrella of VolkerWessels UK, a multidisciplinary contractor that delivers innovative engineering solutions across the civil engineering and construction sectors including rail, highways, airport, marine, energy, water, and environmental infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with Company Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental and Sustainability Systems and Policies
  • Provide assistance to the Site Engineers in the accurate setting out and control of the works, taking every opportunity to undertake setting out under the supervision of their Section/Senior Engineer
  • Gain experience of Company HSEQ systems and participate in tasks that are described
  • Gain experience in materials sampling and testing
  • Any other duties assigned by your line manager for the benefit of the site

Key Objectives

  • Undertaking Instrument checks on setting out equipment and maintaining records of such checks
  • Maintaining drawing registers
  • Setting out the works
  • Maintaining as built record drawing of the completed works
  • Maintaining records of labour, plant and materials used in the works
  • Undertaking material reconciliations
  • Reading and understanding method statements
  • Checking material deliveries for compliance with contract requirements
  • Carrying out material sampling

Qualifications

  • A degree in Civil Engineering (or a closely related discipline)
  • Organised with good attention to detail
  • Proactive, reliable, and keen to develop professionally
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles, standards, and best practices
  • Awareness of health, safety, and quality requirements within an engineering environment
  • Full UK Driving Licence
