VolkerLaser repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures, offering a tailored package of specialist works to clients across the UK. Our structural solutions include bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair and cathodic protection works, steel repair and strengthening work, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement. We also provide specialist lightweight decking and access solutions, as well as being specialists in long bridge and cable refurbishment.

We're looking for a Learning & Development Partner to join our Laser HR team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of talent across our business. Reporting into the Head of HR for Laser, you'll lead the strategy, design, and delivery of L&D initiatives, with a strong focus on our Early Careers Programme and supporting management development. This is a blended role - 50% design, 50% delivery - where you'll create impactful apprenticeship programmes while maintaining and enhancing our existing training and development projects. Please note that role is based out of our Worcester office with national travel.

  • Design & deliver our Early Career Programmes (Apprenticeship) that nurture future talent
  • Manage the training & development budget, ensuring resources are used effectively
  • Support professional accreditation for staff through recognised institutes
  • Source and partner with training providers to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions
  • Collaborate on talent management & succession planning, supporting the Head of HR
  • Implement leadership & development training, aligned with group programmes and tailored to business needs
  • Contribute to the People Plan, working closely with the wider HR team

About you

  • You're a passionate L&D professional with a proven track record in strategy, design and delivery
  • You thrive on developing talent, building programmes from the ground up, and influencing stakeholders at every level
  • Experience in creating and delivering L&D programmes, including apprenticeships and early careers initiatives
  • Skilled in mentoring, coaching, and supporting talent to reach their potential
  • Demonstrable experience in performance review, appraisal programmes, and succession planning
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and influencing skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences
  • Confident communicator who builds trust and drives engagement
