The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Signalling & Telecoms (S&T) provide cost-effective engineering solutions for railway signalling projects throughout the UK.

As a team we manage the full project life cycle and complete all aspects of design, project engineering, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance support, across all signalling technologies, equipment and systems.

We also provide design, supply, install and test services for operational and lineside telecommunication renewals, either as a single discipline provider, or as part of multidisciplinary project, to ensure end-to-end connectivity. We also offer these capabilities for station information and security systems.

We are currently working on a number of contracts some examples of which include the S&T Framework for NW&C, SP&C Framework in Scotland, TransPennine Route upgrade (TRue) and Train Control System Framework (TCSF) for provision of ETCS.

An opportunity has arisen for an H&S Manager to join VolkerRail Specialist Businesses working on our SP&C contract based in Scotland.

This role will involve:

  • Proactively promote HSQE best practice and established accident & incident prevention strategies throughout the managerial/supervisory/workforce levels (including contractors).
  • Work with the managerial/supervisory teams across Signalling & Power in the implementation of HSQE standards and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with the Railway Safety Certification & Principal Contractors / Rail Plant Company Operating licenses, ISO standards, current applicable legislation and other client requirements.
  • Provide professional HSQE advice, coaching, mentoring, training and education to management/supervisors/workforce and contractors where identified as necessary.
  • In conjunction with managerial and supervisory staff manage and close out all associated investigation recommendations and remedial actions arising from accident & incident investigations. In addition assist in the management of formal investigation recommendations and remedial actions as directed by the management team.

About you

  • You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are a key requirement for this role. The candidate will also ideally have the following Experience/skill set:

    • Previous experience in an HSQE role.
    • Hold a diploma/degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
    • Have working knowledge of both rail and civil engineering interfaces and practices.
    • Previous experience of working in the construction/rail industry are an essential requirement along with the possession of a PTS and CSCS Card.
    • Ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload.
