Part of the VolkerWessels UK Group, VolkerStevin is an industry-leading civil engineering business, providing complex and innovative engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors including maritime, flood risk management, defence, energy, water and regeneration. Collaborating with, and drawing on the specialist skills of the group's business units we deliver a truly integrated, multidisciplinary service.

VolkerStevin are seeking an experienced Quality Advisor to champion excellence across our South East projects. If you’re passionate about helping teams deliver high-quality outcomes first time, every time, this role gives you the platform, influence, and autonomy to make a real impact.

The Opportunity

As a Quality Advisor, you’ll be a trusted partner to project and site teams-supportive when they need guidance, independent when assurance is required. You’ll be central to embedding our Delivering with Certainty philosophy and driving our Quality Ripple improvement programme across diverse, high-profile infrastructure projects. Your work will blend proactive engagement, structured assurance, and targeted interventions, ensuring quality is built into delivery rather than inspected in afterwards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance - Deliver planned Quality Ripple visits and audits, ensuring compliance with VolkerStevin systems, client requirements, and project-specific quality plans.
  • Independent Auditing - Carry out formal audits, provide clear feedback, and support internal/external audit activities.
  • Performance Reporting - Produce timely reports on trends, non-conformances, and audit outcomes.
  • Site Support - Act as a visible, approachable quality partner, helping teams plan effectively and use ITPs to build verification into the work.
  • Targeted Interventions - Provide focused support for specific risks, recurring issues, or critical activities.
  • Handover & Close-Out - Assist teams in preparing robust, timely handover documentation.
  • Quality Strategy - Promote early planning, clarity of scope, risk identification, and learning from experience.
  • Non-Conformance Investigation - Support or lead investigations, ensuring root causes are understood and effective corrective actions are implemented.

What You Bring

  • Strong experience in construction quality management or assurance.
  • Confidence engaging with site teams, project leaders, and clients.
  • A proactive mindset-someone who spots risks early and helps teams prevent repeat issues.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to translate findings into practical actions.
  • A passion for continual improvement and raising standards across the business.

Why Join VolkerStevin?

You’ll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking organisation that values quality as a driver of performance-not a tick-box exercise. You’ll influence how projects are delivered, help shape our quality strategy, and contribute to meaningful improvements across the business. This is a role where your expertise genuinely matters.

About you

Ideally, the individual will have:

  • Associate membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI)
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Experience within construction or infrastructure delivery environments.
  • Experience working across a range of construction disciplines.
  • Strong written, analytical, and IT skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, guide, and challenge constructively at all levels.
  • Confidence to build strong working relationships internally and externally.

If your past experience doesn’t match perfectly with every requirement of the job description, we still encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for us.
