As a Foreman, you will lead by example in delivering a zero‑compromise approach to Safety and Quality. Install, maintain, and remove traffic management in line with Chapter 8 and approved drawings. Work safely, comply with regulations, and represent VolkerHighways professionally at all times. This Foreman position is based within the Traffic Management division, operating from our Wokingham depot.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver traffic management operations in line with NHSS 12 and Chapter 8 (12A/B & 12D)
- Supervise, support and mentor operatives and trainees
- Ensure all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to required standards
- Conduct site surveys and review/approve TM layouts where required
- Maintain and check TM equipment, reporting defects promptly
- Complete all job records, permits and required documentation accurately
- Participate in call‑out and weekend rotas, including emergency response
- Liaise professionally with clients, stakeholders and local authorities
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and permitting regulations
- Deliver team briefings, inductions and ensure staff understand roles and risks
- Build strong client relationships and support high levels of customer satisfaction
- Report near misses, monitor performance and identify team training needs
About you
- Previous experience in traffic management operations
- Previous experience in highways maintenance
- Holder of valid CSCS card
- Holder of NHSS12DM1‑M6
- Holder of NHSS12A/B Foreman
- Holder of full valid UK driving licence
- Holder of valid First Aid at Work qualification (desirable)
