VolkerLaser repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures, offering a tailored package of specialist works to clients across the UK. Our structural solutions include bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair and cathodic protection works, steel repair and strengthening work, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement. We also provide specialist lightweight decking and access solutions, as well as being specialists in long bridge and cable refurbishment.
We are seeking an experienced and highly driven Coatings Site Manager to join our Industrial Coatings division. This role is critical in delivering high‑quality coatings projects across the UK so candidates must be prepared to lodge away when required. The chosen site manager will be tasked with ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with customer and industry specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day‑to‑day operations on industrial coatings sites, ensuring work is delivered to programme and specification.
- Lead, coordinate, and motivate site teams, providing clear direction and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Ensure surface preparation meets required standards, including abrasive blasting to SA2–SA3 and mechanical preparation to ST2–ST3.
- Ensure compliance with industry specifications such as SHW5000, SHW1900, and Network Rail M24.
- Conduct inspections and identify coating defects including laminations, runs, drips, and blistering.
- Maintain all site records, quality documentation, and ensure accurate reporting.
- Promote and uphold a strong health & safety culture.
- Liaise with clients and project managers to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Manage site logistics, equipment, labour, and materials.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial coatings with supervisory experience.
- Previous experience working on Bridge projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of blasting, coatings application, and specifications.
- Candidates must possess relevant industry training and accreditations.
- Strong awareness of health & safety legislation.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Full UK driving license as there is a requirement to travel and lodge away where needed for this position.
