We provide integrated and ground‑breaking solutions for the civil engineering and construction sectors, with specialisms in rail, highways, airports, marine, defence, energy, water, and environmental infrastructure. VolkerWessels UK is seeking a Systems Developer to support the design, development, and maintenance of business‑critical applications across the organisation. This role plays a key part in delivering secure, scalable, and high‑quality software solutions that underpin operational performance.
You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to new application development, system enhancements, and cloud‑based integrations. You will also collaborate closely with project teams, stakeholders, and support functions to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement of systems and processes. Please note that this is a permanent, full time role, based onsite in Hoddesdon.
About our role
- Develop, maintain, and support applications, integrations, and software solutions.
- Enhance existing systems and ensure performance, reliability, and data integrity.
- Work with Azure technologies including Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Key Vault, and API Management.
- Support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Produce and maintain high‑quality technical documentation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and support teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
- Adhere to development standards, security controls, and governance requirements.
About you
Essential:
- Experience with Azure cloud technologies, including Logic Apps and Azure Functions.
- Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, and web services.
- Knowledge of Git and CI/CD practices.
- Experience supporting applications in a live environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented with a structured approach to work.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Customer‑focused with a strong service mindset.
- Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.
- Able to manage competing priorities effectively.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform).
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Exposure to Power Platform or Dataverse.
