Specialist Businesses is made up of expert divisions in signalling, track, power, electrification, and piling, and has an in-house plant division and bespoke design teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out specialist rail welding activities across the UK in line with industry standards and company procedures, ensuring all work sites are left clean, safe, and compliant.
- Perform aluminothermic and electric arc welding on a range of rail types, including crane rail, grooved rail, crossings, and switches.
- Take responsibility for the safe use, maintenance, and inspection of welding equipment, tools, vehicles, and associated plant.
- Conduct visual inspections of completed welds and ensure all work meets required quality standards.
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order, properly maintained, and compliant with certification requirements.
- Safely transport equipment and materials to and from sites in accordance with road traffic regulations.
- Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring personal safety and that of colleagues, and take on safety leadership roles (e.g., COSS/SPIC) where required.
- Provide clear direction to assistant welders and support effective teamwork on site.
- Accurately complete and submit all required documentation at the end of each shift.
- Represent the company professionally at all times, particularly when working with clients or third parties.
- Report any quality issues, non-conformances, or safety concerns to management promptly.
- Liaise effectively with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Stay up to date with industry developments by attending relevant training courses.
- Comply with all health and safety requirements, taking responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others under your supervision.
About you
Essential:
- Experience in Track Construction and/or Renewals
- PTS and Track Welding competencies (TW3/RT3)
- Full UK driving licence (LGV)
- Training in Manual Handling, Fire Safety, Small Tools, and Hand Trolley Operations
Desirable:
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above)
- Light Rail experience
- Additional welding and rail competencies (MMA 1–7, GCR Operator, FBW Operator, Weld Inspector)
- ICT/computer literacy
