About the role
This role will support the delivery of lighting installation and maintenance works across the Somerset region.
The Supervisor will oversee day‑to‑day operations on contracts across the South West, coordinating directly employed teams and subcontract labour to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality delivery.
The position is responsible for meeting operational and financial targets, maintaining programme deadlines, and ensuring all works are completed in full accordance with contract requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead safe operational delivery across allocated sites, ensuring full compliance with risk assessments, method statements and company procedures.
- Use the Confirm system effectively for client and contractor coordination.
- Apply strong commercial control, including cost management, identifying variations and supporting QS reporting.
- Plan and programme works with clients and onsite teams, contributing to weekly delivery plans.
- Manage subcontractors and temporary staff, ensuring quality, productivity and performance standards are met.
- Carry out monthly H&S and environmental inspections, deliver site and depot inductions, and ensure regular toolbox talks are completed.
- Monitor work quality, review drawings and instructions, and raise any anomalies promptly.
- Oversee use of plant, transport and materials, ensuring efficient utilisation and adherence to compliance registers.
- Maintain accurate records of all works, delays and additional activities to support commercial processes.
- Support staff development, maintain fair and effective management practices, and assist in the overall growth of the contract.
About you
- Supervisory experience is required, with the ability to manage teams and onsite activities effectively.
- A good understanding of cost, value and basic commercial principles is needed.
- Knowledge of programming and planning processes is important for coordinating works efficiently.
- Strong computer literacy is required to operate digital systems and reporting tools.
- Sufficient electrical and technical knowledge is essential for overseeing installation and maintenance activities.
- An understanding of Highways Sector Scheme and HEA requirements is beneficial for maintaining compliance.
- Effective management techniques are needed to support team performance and problem‑solving.
- The role requires someone confident, proactive and able to use initiative.
- Discretion and confidentiality are important when handling operational or personnel information.
- Around five years of electrical and technical site experience is preferred.
- A good standard of written and spoken English is required for clear communication and reporting.
