You will lead the development of graphics platforms for Volant Media, including traditional linear broadcast graphics, AR/VR, HTML-based graphics, and other relevant systems. You will be responsible for the creation and deployment of templated graphics across all Volant Media output, covering live and rendered graphics, data visualisations, maps, and social content. Managing a small team, you will collaborate with editorial, production, and brand teams to deliver high‑quality graphics.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain graphics systems, templates and workflows across live, rendered, and automated output.
  • Lead and line‑manage a small team of graphics specialists, setting priorities, managing quality and supporting development.
  • Act as the senior subject‑matter expert for graphics platforms, escalating risks and issues to the Head of Workflow & Design as required.
  • Design and implement a unified graphics architecture serving broadcast, digital and social platforms.
  • Lead the practical transition to HTML and web‑based graphics solutions supporting cloud and software‑defined workflows.
  • Maintain and extend proprietary broadcast graphics systems for flagship studio requirements, including AR, videowalls and touchscreen presentation.
  • Make hands‑on technical decisions, balancing creative ambition, usability and operational resilience.
  • Build and maintain high‑quality templated graphics for real‑time playout and rendered workflows, including After Effects and mogrt templates.
  • Design production UIs that enable efficient, consistent graphics fulfilment under live production conditions.
  • Develop data‑driven graphics and automated playout workflows for sport, finance and editorial content.
  • Ensure data integrations are accurate, robust and scalable; explore AI‑assisted approaches where appropriate.
  • Integrate graphics platforms into broadcast, video, and digital production workflows.
  • Work hands‑on with Technology teams on configuration, upgrades and new deployments.
  • Collaborate with editorial, production and brand teams to deliver creative intent within defined frameworks.
  • Advise producers and journalists on graphics capability and best practice.
  • Lead and participate in cross‑functional Working Groups to ensure effective ownership, delivery and continuous improvement of end‑to‑end workflows and services.
  • Other duties as reasonably required.

Requirements

  • Proven hands‑on experience building graphics systems for broadcast and video production.
  • Expert knowledge of real‑time graphics platforms (e.g. Vizrt, Unreal, Chyron or similar).
  • Strong practical capability in HTML, JavaScript and web‑based graphics development.
  • Experience with After Effects, mogrt templates and rendered video workflows.
  • Track record delivering data‑driven graphics and automation.
  • Experience line‑managing small teams.
  • Strong understanding of live broadcast environments and production workflows.
  • Fluent English, with a portfolio demonstrating graphics systems, templates and data‑driven work.

Preferred

  • Cloud or software‑defined graphics platforms.
  • AR, videowall and touchscreen studio graphics.
  • AI or machine‑learning experimentation in graphics workflows.
  • After Effects scripting and expressions.
  • Knowledge of Persian and Afghan cultural contexts; Farsi, Dari or Pashto language skills.
