Reporting to the Head of Workflow & Design, the Media Logistics Lead is responsible for the leadership, governance and continuous development of Volant Media's Media Logistics function. The role ensures all media assets supporting live and non-live news and programming content are acquired, managed, quality assured, archived and delivered efficiently, reliably and in accordance with operational, editorial and compliance requirements.

Working closely with Editorial, Production, Workflow, Technology, Scheduling and Transmission teams, the Media Logistics Lead is accountable for maintaining robust media workflows, driving operational excellence and identifying opportunities for automation, innovation and continuous improvement. The role requires a forward-thinking approach to operational design, with a strong focus on modernisation, automation and emerging technologies. The successful candidate will be expected to act as an early adopter of new systems, technologies and ways of working, including AI-driven solutions that improve efficiency, content discoverability and operational effectiveness.

The Media Logistics Lead is responsible for leading and developing the Media Logistics and Archive teams, ensuring the organisation maintains a resilient, scalable and future-focused approach to content operations across all platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Media Logistics and Archive teams, ensuring high standards of performance, collaboration and service delivery.
  • Manage resources, rotas and operational priorities to support live and non-live production requirements.
  • Oversee the ingest, quality assurance, archiving and delivery of media assets in support of operational requirements.
  • Maintain technical, operational and quality standards for content prepared for transmission or publication.
  • Establish and maintain standards, processes and best practices for content operations across the organisation.
  • Drive continuous improvement across media logistics operations, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, resilience and service quality.
  • Champion workflow modernisation and the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions where appropriate.
  • Manage media storage, metadata, indexing and archive standards to support effective content management and retrieval.
  • Provide technical leadership for ingest, archive and content management operations.
  • Work closely with Editorial, Production, Workflow, Technology, Scheduling and Transmission teams to deliver effective operational outcomes.
  • Maintain operational media records and documentation as required.
  • Produce operational reports, performance insights and recommendations for the Head of Workflow & Design.
  • Investigate workflow issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with copyright, licensing and content management requirements.
  • Contribute to business projects, workflow development initiatives and cross-functional improvement programmes.
Essential Requirements
  • Significant operational experience within broadcast, news or media environments, including responsibility for media management, ingest, archive or contribution services.
  • Comprehensive understanding of broadcast operations, media asset management and content delivery processes.
  • Strong knowledge of video file formats, codecs, wrappers and transmission standards.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and media preparation workflows.
  • Experience using media quality control and validation tools.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues relating to ingest, archive and content delivery operations.
  • Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver operational improvements through automation, technology adoption and process optimisation.
  • A proactive and forward-thinking approach to innovation, modernisation and continuous improvement.
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience working within a live news environment.
  • Working knowledge of media asset management platforms such as Mimir or equivalent systems.
  • Exposure to automation, metadata enrichment and AI-assisted media management technologies.
  • Participation in workflow modernisation, operational transformation or technology change initiatives.
  • Understanding of cloud-based media workflows and storage environments.
  • Knowledge of Farsi or Dari.
