Reporting to the Director of Technology and Content Operations, this leadership role oversees TX, MCR, and Media Management teams. It requires expertise in contribution, distribution, and channel origination workflows and technology. The senior leader serves as a key contact for internal stakeholders, manages vendor relationships, and ensures efficient service delivery. Strong operational and technical skills, a proactive approach, adaptability, and dedication to continuous improvement are essential.

Accountable for contribution, distribution, transmission and media management operations, ensuring the reliable delivery of live and scheduled services across all platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Own MCR, TX and media management operations.
  • Act as senior authority for live broadcast transmission and impairments.
  • Ensure operational readiness, resilience and compliance.
  • Lead MCR, TX and media management teams.
  • Support shaping and delivering long term strategy, with a focus on cloud adoption, innovation and sustainable service evolution.
  • Define operational policies, procedures and competency standards.
  • Set departmental objectives and performance expectations.
  • Ensure real time management of live broadcast incidents.
  • Coordinate contribution, distribution and playout workflows.
  • Maintain operational documentation and training records.
  • Drive innovation and improvement in transmission and distribution workflows.
  • Support future operational planning and new service launches.
  • Work closely with Editorial, Production, Technology and Scheduling.
  • Manage external transmission and facilities providers.
  • Develop technical and leadership capability across teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, high performance culture.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and broadcast regulations.
  • Own escalation and incident management processes.
  • Lead and participate in cross functional Working Groups to ensure effective ownership, delivery and continuous improvement of end-to-end workflows and services.
  • Required to be contactable out of hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Senior leadership experience in MCR, TX or broadcast operations.
  • Deep contribution, distribution and playout expertise in operational and technical domains.
  • Strong decision making under live operational pressure.
  • Clear understanding of all aspects of transmission playout technology, including OTT.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including technical documentation.
  • The ability to collaborate, influence and communicate effectively with all areas inside and outside of the organisation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and on one’s own initiative, often to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to innovate solutions proactively.
  • Highly effective team player, able to build and maintain working relationships with a range of people.
  • Ability to maintain collaborative working environment through appropriate delegation tasks, prospects, debrief and feedback routine meetings.
  • Ability to diagnose and analyse issues and faults, driving resolution and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business, and with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Ability to write up any technical manuals/guides for TX operators to adhere to.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a pressurised environment and prioritise accordingly.
  • Ability to mentor junior staff & capable of taking the initiative and leading by example, delegating without question.
  • Experience with budget management and vendor management.
  • Strong team player.
